Cultivating Curiosity, Harvesting Knowledge
Welcome to Super Potatoes, our fresh K-2 program that dives into the world of soil health and farming, with the potato as our star. In partnership with local farmer Jesse Clarke from Phoenix Park Farm, students will explore the life cycle of a potato, understand its role in our food system, and learn about the importance of soil health for growing nutritious food.
Super Potatoes is designed to engage young learners and make a lasting impact. Students will discover the challenges of modern farming, including soil degradation, and the need for sustainable practices. They’ll be involved in the farming process, from soil preparation to harvesting, fostering a connection to their food’s journey.
A highlight of Super Potatoes is the introduction to the business of farming. Students will create a simple business plan, learn to market and sell their share of the harvest, potentially funding future projects or raising funds for other school initiatives.
